About Me

Hi! I’m Derek Kitchen.  I am currently taking a few classes at Salt Lake Community College to finish up some loose ends on my general studies.  I have decided to follow my lifelong passion of public service and politics by going into a political science baccalaureate program.  When I finish, I imagine I’ll go to to either law school or shoot for my MPA.  If I don’t immediately go into graduate school, I plan on joining the Peace Corps.  The idea of traveling the world working on humanitarian missions and helping people in need has always excited me.  I’m not sure where my life will take me or where exactly I’ll go in my career, but the ambiguity of that is also exciting.  And although I’m uncertain, I would absolutely love to run for U.S. Senate some day.  I have always imagined myself working in some form of politics but lately it seems like a bitter-sweet career.

In my spare time,  I enjoy reading a good biography, working out, golfing, getting together with a few of my close friends for a great movie or a few beers.  I’ve recently acquired a passion for wine, any red wine will make me smile.
